TEASER SWEET
Night Stalker
High Roller Records
Formed back in 2013, Swedish hard rock band TEASER SWEET already had three fabulous albums to their name: “Hit And Run” (2015), “Hypnotised” (2018), and “Monster” (2020), along with an EP “In The Night” (2017), before more recently signing for High Roller Records.
Now under the umbrella of a record label fully accustomed with getting the very best out of hard rock and metal bands, TEASER SWEET are indeed set to become high rollers in the rock and metal genres. With “Night Stalker” being so heavily backed it’s now got to be the odds-on favourite to become their best album to date.
TEASER SWEET are just so easy on the ears, I honestly don’t think I’ve ever heard a song by them yet that I didn’t like! Everything they do is pure poetry, you don’t ever have to try too hard to enjoy a song by TEASER SWEET because the pleasure just comes so naturally with absolutely everything they do. Therese Damberg’s rock vocals are always divine and TEASER SWEET’s skilful musicianship is second to none, so is it any surprise “Night Stalker” is a nailed-on to be a banger? Well, not to me, that’s for sure!
From the opening moments of the Spanish guitar led “Intro” you know you are in for a real treat as the entertainment continues to grow and flourish from start to finish. With obvious influences from the likes of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Dio there are fast, hard and heavy songs like “Cold Is The Fire,” “Deep In The Woods” and title track “Night Stalker” that resonate right across the decades with that authentic and traditional heavy metal sound we all adore.
Then there are old school hard rock earworms like “Eat You Alive,” “Killer Machine” and “Living In Sin” with catchy hooks and super cool riffs where dexterous Tony Iommi style guitar playing is totally king. Not only do these excellent tracks help turn back the hands of time to the good old days, but they also have them leaping forward again too making all these songs the perfect glove like fit for the modern audience who seem to have rediscovered their love for that retro sound.
The cream of the crop tracks for me are the wonderful “Blue Sky” with its eerie “House Of The Rising Sun” vibe and finger numbing guitar work along with the softer singalong track “Turn Me On” which will almost certainly encourage you to turn the volume right up! What an outstanding album, this is traditional hard rock very much for the modern palette and I absolutely love it!
TEASER SWEET exude complete confidence throughout the duration of “Night Stalker”, which indeed they should because they have created an exemplary well-polished piece of work that should do exceedingly well for them. I don’t very often issue the statement that an album is ‘all killer no filler’, but on this occasion I am more than happy to do so because with “Night Stalker” that is most assuredly the case. Very highly recommended!
