Sorrowbreaker

Finnish modern melodic metal band CRIMSON SUN are back with their third full length album Sorrowbreaker which does exactly what it says in the title! If you’re feeling down, then Sorrowbreaker will certainly lift you up and inspire you to get out there and have another go. Sorrowbreaker is proper rebel rousing, soul stirring stuff, so pick yourself up, dust off your air guitar and join CRIMSON SUN to rock your bloody socks off!

With every song coming in nice bite sized chunks there is absolutely nothing not to like about Sorrowbreaker with each individual tune more than capable of putting a big grin on your face. This is metal for the masses!

Traditional power metal song The Mark Stays On leads the way before CRIMSON SUN really begin hitting their groove with flat out modern metal bangers like Strive, Sailing Home, Neon Lights and Nightsky. Every single track on Sorrowbreaker is super sweet, silky smooth and very easy on the ears, if metal was a bar of chocolate, then this would be it.

However, there are also some harder hitting, synthesiser infused modern power metal tunes too with an added element of something more alternative that really help deliver something a bit edgier in the mix. Tracks like Retrospectator, Aluminum Crown and title track Sorrowbreaker bring a bit more grit and grimace to balance things up.

Final two tracks The Tide and Sylvan are a little more substantial in nature with an almost anthem feel about them, they also provide a very fitting finish to thirty minutes of pure metal escapism. So, if you like me occasionally need a break from the mundane day to day grind of life, then you won’t go far wrong if you give Sorrowbreaker a spin!

Sorrowbreaker is a thoroughly enjoyable album with very widespread appeal that will be sure have you singing along with the band as you enjoy the ride. CRIMSON SUN have produced a good solid album with each track on Sorrowbreaker standing up to individual scrutiny making it a worthy addition to anyone’s playlist. Recommended, so check it out!
