ILLUSIONS OF GRANDEUR are a Los Angeles based theatrical metal band formed around front woman Maggie Carlton, who is also known as The Siren. They have released two full albums so far, “The Songs Of The Siren” (2019) and “The Siren” (2021), and we strongly believe there will be new material out in 2025. Why? Because their latest single “Spine” is launched on November 7th and The Siren Saga has just started a new chapter. So we asked Maggie all about “Spine” in just 5 questions.

The official website of ILLUSIONS OF GRANDEUR opens with: “New chapter begins….”. What new chapter?
“The new chapter begins as ILLUSIONS OF GRANDEUR is set to release the final two chapters (EP’s) in “The Siren Saga”, “The Siren Rises Pt. 1: The Raven Witch”. In this part of the story the band has ascended from Hades and are battling to return to Olympus.”
The new single “Spine” is the first paragraph of the new chapter? What is it about?
“The new sound of the band represented in our debut single “Spine” is a change in direction that reflects the band’s current lineup, a little more modern, and is part of the evolution of the Siren and ILLUSIONS OF GRANDEUR. The lyrics of “Spine” represents standing up for yourself in a toxic situation, to be determined and move forward, and not give up!”
What is your own text and explanation about the shadowy figure on the cover art of “Spine”?
“The cover of “Spine” is a depiction of an elder god rooting himself with the earth, it represents the line “Spine through the floor” and how we are all connected to the earth and each other.”
Would you put a theatrical metal label on “Spine” or tuck it away in a different drawer?
“While “Spine” represents a big change in the sound of ILLUSIONS OF GRANDEUR, it still shows our theatrical side of the band, in our story telling, and is really reflected in our live performances, come see the show!”
The release of the single and video coincides with a concert at the Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood on November 7. Have you prepared something special for that night?
“We will be doing a special performance of the new single and have one-of-a-kind merchandise for all those in attendance, it’s going to be an epic night!” ■
